The XRF4 RF Accessory Kit is a modular 8-transmit, 8-receive, and 2-feedback RF front end for the Zynq™ UltraScale+™ RFSoC DFE ZCU670 and GEN 3 ZCU208 evaluation boards. The board is supported by AMD DFE Evaluation SW that allows users to quickly and easily evaluated AMD silicon and IP with their chosen RF line up. The modular nature of the kit enables support for a wide range of operating bands and the ability for customers to customize if they wish to develop their own RF front end solutions. The kit comes with RF slices (modules) that support the N77 (3.3–4.2 GHz) wireless access band with support for other wireless bands available from AMD.

The XRF4 RF Accessory Kit includes the XRF4 radio frequency (RF) baseboard (XRF4-RFBB) along with XRF4 RF slices for transmit (TX), receive (RX), and feedback (FB) processing.
The XRF4-RFBB board is the recommended interface board for RF evaluation using the ZCU670 and ZCU208 evaluation boards. This card enables the users to easily add a full RF line up to the RFSoC integrated RF Sampling transceiver. There are nine connectors, also referred to as RF slice connectors, that enable RF line up modules (slices) to be added to the board. These connectors also provide DC power, digital control in the form of the inter-integrated circuit (I2C) protocol, a serial peripheral interface (SPI), general-purpose I/Os (GPIOs), and time division duplex (TDD) control to these RF slice connectors.
The RF slice connectors provide a standard interface the development of RF front-end line ups or RF slices. AMD currently provides RF slices for wireless access (4/5G) targeting FR1 bands, however custom RF line up solutions for various applications, including (but not limited to) FR2 (mmWave), Aerospace, Defense, SATCOM, and Instrumentation can be supported by the RF slice connectors. The AMD Kria™ K26 system-on-module (SOM) acts as the RF controller for the XRF4 baseboard. An onboard physical-side interface (PHY) allows the RF controller to be configured and commanded through Ethernet.
